Welcome to FM BIRDERS,

A local Audubon chapter dedicated to the gathering, sharing, and dissemination of information pertaining to avian life in the Fargo-Moorhead area and their respective counties of Cass and Clay (No. Dak. and Minn.), with a focus on education, conservation, and public outreach. Bird devotees of all stripes--from casual to serious--are welcome.

The logo represents two of our area's most prominent sought-after species--the gray partridge and the chestnut-collared longspur--superimposed on Cass and Clay counties, stradling the Red River of the North.Designed by Sujan Henkanaththeg edara.

Recent notables...
 
--Glaucous Gull (hypothetical), 12 Apr., suburban Fargo (Cass) First recorded instance in either Cass or Clay.
--Merlin (uncommon but...) Several nesting territories noted in urban Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo starting early March. Rapidly expanding presence. 
--White-winged Crossbills  (rare-uncommon, irruptive), 10,25 Jan., (Cass) 
--Eastern Bluebird (accidental winter), 18 Dec., Harwood (Cass)

--Black-billed Magpie, 24 Nov, rural eastern Clay County.

--Snowy Owl, (rare-uncommon), multiple sightings in both Cass and Clay Counties, (irruption year)(photo: K Corliss)


--Common Raven, 18 Nov., Buffalo River State Park (Clay)

--Eastern Screech Owl, (uncommon),15 Nov., Fargo (Cass)

--Long-tailed Duck, (rare), 13 Nov., Fargo (Cass)
